Eldjarn Kambhøttur was a Viking from the Faroe Islands in the tenth century who appears as a historical figure in the Færeyinga saga. Eldjam was a supporter of the powerful godi Havgrímur and was facing Einar Suðringur by the position of two brothers relatives of Einar , Brestir Sigmundsson and Beinir Sigmundsson due to an area of the archipelago called Stóra Dímun, a dispute that already lasted 65 years. The case was taken to the Løgting (the Faroese thing) in 970 that ruled in favor of Einar, which ended in tragedy when Eldjam and Havgímur participated in an ambush where the brothers died. Eldjam looked for support in the father-in-law of Havgrímur, Snæúlvur that remained neutral since it considered that Einar was right and for that reason the justice had failed in its favor, reprimanding to its son-in-law because it considered that it was not well what they were plotting Havgrimur, on the other hand, sought the favor of the mighty Tróndur í Gøtu, who favored the attack in exchange for receiving two cows every spring and 300 meters of sheep's wool each autumn as a tribute, for life and hereditary; but Trondur did not want to participate directly in the conspiracy and asked his uncle Svínoyar-Bjarni to take part in his name.
