Council of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Germany
The Council of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Germany (also called Lutherrat) was founded on 11 March 1936 by the Landeskirchen of Bavaria, Wurttemberg and Hanover, as well as the Landesbruderräte of the Lutheran Landeskirchen of Saxony, Mecklenburg and Thuringia. The Protestant-Lutheran church was also represented. by the Council of Churches, Matthias Schulz, Berlin-Wilmersdorf. The Luther Council dissolved the "Lutheran Council", which was formed on August 25, 1934, by an initiative of Bishop August Marahrens to profess the Lutheran position within the Confessing Church. The Lutherrat claimed that "the shared spiritual leadership of the Lutheran churches and the works that are committed to the Confessional Church". Unlike the "Dahlemmit" wing of the Confessing Church, the Lutherrat advocated collaboration with the Reichskirchenministerium of Hanns Kerrl , The chairman was Hans Meiser.
