Basquilla

Basquilla is the name that the shepherds give to a disease of the wool cattle and say that it is a kind of rage that the sheep suffer.

This disease affects the best and most robust sheep and sheep of the flocks or herds, especially in spring in the abundant pasture lands, as in the banks of the Guadiana, where the rabanillo that causes it is raised. It is known that the animals that suffer it are stopped in the shepherd's, they take some turns similar to those of the drowsiness, they jump, they run, and in the same race they fall, they gnash their teeth, they make a gesture of ruminating and they foam by the mouth.

Some claim that bleeding immediately from the tear cure the disease, but others deny it. The safest remedy is to take them to high pastures, let them eat little, take them late from the fold and lock them up early. Many pastors usually put a bite of broom to drink a lot, which ensures that healing is achieved. Dead carcasses have a lot of blood inside the body. Meat can be eaten safely.
