On 25 January 2001 he became a professional, unanimous decision against Pascali Adorno. Considered a great prospect, Juárez managed to top the roster with victories against Hector Velazquez and Joe Morales.

On May 20, 2006 he fought Marco Antonio Barrera at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. Barrera used direct hits with the left or jabs to win the first rounds, but it was obvious that Juarez was not being beaten by wounding his opponent's nose. In the second half of the match Juarez took control. Although not required by a contract, a rematch was raised on September 16 of the same year, this time Barrera easily won by unanimous decision (117-111, 115-113, 115-113).

As a replacement for Jorge Rodrigo Barrios, Juarez fought Juan Manuel Márquez for the WBC Super-featherweight title on November 3, 2007.
