Republican and Social Action (Fourth Republic)

For the homonymous articles, see ARS and Action républicaine et sociale.

The Republican and Social Action (ARS) is a parliamentary group of the Fourth Republic which experienced a brief existence between 1952 and 1954.

The group originated in the crisis that shook the deputies of the Rally of the French people in 1952. Against the advice of General de Gaulle, 27 elected Gaullists voted the inauguration of Antoine Pinay, President of the Council. They eventually seceded and created a new group headed by Edmond Barrachin and as vice-presidents: André Bardon, Édouard Frédéric-Dupont, André-Jean Godin and Raymond Mondon.

Henry Bergasse took over the presidency of the group between 1953 and 1954, when he joined the CNIP. Sources change code
