The Olympic Exhibition Center will be a center for exhibitions and conventions in the neighborhood of Villa Soldati, south of the City of Buenos Aires, which will host various sporting events during the 2018 Youth Olympic Games: boxing, fencing , gymnastics, judo, table tennis, taekwondo, weightlifting, wrestling, handball and badminton. It will be located at the corner of Avenida Escalada and General Francisco Fernandez de la Cruz Avenue, next to the Olympic Village, within the limits of the City Park. Next to the property is the Premetro Cecilia Grierson station, the Cecilia Grierson Hospital and the City of Rock. The Costa Salguero concessionaires also own a construction company that has already won tenders for the city for at least 190 million pesos. They are the ones who will build the Olympic Village. Emmaco will now make the Olympic Village for the 2018 Youth Olympic Games. The company belongs to Carmen Polledo's husband.
The winning design belongs to the team of architect Maximiliano Álvarez, and will be located on an area of approximately 70,000 m2.
The proposal was characterized by sustainability criteria in building design and urban design strategies with criteria of bioclimatic design, efficient management of energy and water, construction materials - materials with low environmental impact- , waste management and sustainable management of urban space - conservation of biodiversity, thermal habitability, sustainable drainage systems, improved soil permeability and low environmental impact materials.
