Juan José is a play in three acts by Joaquín Dicenta, released on October 29, 1895 at the Teatro de la Comedia in Madrid, considered as a work of social denunciation. Argument
Juan José and Andrés are two friends who live respectively with Rosa and Toñuela. The conflict arises when Paco, the foreman of the hacienda in which Juan Jose works, shows his intentions about Rosa. The conflict between the two men ends with the dismissal of Juan José, who is bullied to survive and finally ends up in prison. For her part, Rosa, an ambitious woman, is seduced by Paco. When Juan José receives news of the situation through Andrés, he manages to escape from the prison with the intention of ending the life of the traitor and his lover. Featured Representations
