Juan de Dios Aguirre

Juan de Dios Aguirre; (La Serena, 1793-1845). Chilean priest, parish priest of La Serena. In 1815, on the occasion of the sermon he preached at the feast of St. Peter, a process followed the chief constable, who allowed himself to criticize a passage from that sermon, allusive to the King of Spain.

He was elected Deputy for La Serena and Elqui (1825-1826).

The municipality of Vicuña recommended its merits to the supreme government in 1831 and the following year began to serve in the Parish of Carén.
