In Hiding
"In Hiding" is a song included in the first album of the English progressive rock group Genesis, called From Genesis to Revelation, a conceptual album of the year 1969.
The song marks a point in the album where the concept of it collapses: a hermit who can think and love independently and seek beauty. In the chronological development of the album, the song could represent the Renaissance, since the line of the refrain "I have a mind of its own" would seem to mark the end of the Middle Ages.
The song itself is an acoustic piece with added violins and a strong feeling of the '60s. Prior to the recording of this album, "In Hiding" was an instrumental piece called "Patricia". It was one of three songs presented to producer Jonathan King in 1967 and led to the band's debut with the Decca label.
This demo can be found on the collection album Genesis Archive 1967-75. "In Hiding" was also released in June 1969 along with the song "Where The Sour Turns To Sweet" on the single of this first album and was probably also performed live.
