Babeldaob

Babeldaob or Babelthuap is the largest island in Palau. Its area is 331 km², and represents 70% of the country. It is located to the north-east of Koror, and in it is located the new capital of the Palauan nation, Ngerulmud. With the exception of the other islands of Palau, Babeldaob is mountainous. The highest point is Mount Ngerchelchuus (242 m.).

The second most populous state of Palaos, Airai, lies at the southern end of the island. In Airai is the main airport, as well as a bridge to Koror.
