Reischacherhof
Reischacherhof
The Reischacherhof is a former Domherrenhaus at the Münsterplatz in Basel, next to the Gymnasium am Münsterplatz.
After the Reformation, the family of Reischach moved in. From 1764 to 1768 the house under the direction of the architect Johann Jacob Fechter was converted. From 1765 onwards there lived the town-keeper Isaak Iselin. On March 30, 1777, he founded the Gesellschaft für die Gute und Gemeinnützige Basel, from which the GGG Stadtbibliothek Basel was founded in 1807. The GGG was given the house for its 200th anniversary by the canton of Basel-Stadt.
Café Zum Isaak is located in the Reischacher Hof.
