Helmuth of Oertzen


Helmuth von Oertzen (born September 26, 1888 in Ludwigslust, Germany) was a German military official and politician (CDU). He was the Thuringian transport minister. Edit LifeQualtext

Helmuth von Oertzen, son of a Oberforstmeister, attended the pre-school and the Realgymnasium in Mecklenburg, Holstein and Berlin. In 1911 he graduated from the Realgymnasium in Malchin. Between 1911 and 1930, he completed an officer's career, mainly in military transport. From 1914 to 1918 von Oertzen took part in the First World War. In 1930, he became a chief of the military, R.. From 1930 to 1937 he worked as civilian employee in the military administration in Heide (Holstein). Subsequently, he was director of the Sanatorium Tannenfeld near Nöbdenitz in Thuringia from 1937 to February 1950.

1945 joined the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU) from Oertzen. He was active as a representative of the CDU in the Volkskongress movement from 1947 onwards and belonged until 1952 to the managing board of the CDU Thüringen.
