Olaf the Insightful

Olaf the Perspicuous (Óláf inn skyggni), was a Viking caudillo in the seventh century, king of Nærrki (today Närke), Sweden. He is mentioned in several medieval writings and sagas such as Af Upplendinga konungum and the saga of Gautrek.

Af Upplendinga konungum cites that Gautrek the king Gautrek married Alof, the daughter of Olaf and had a son called Algautr, according to the Scandinavian sagas the last king of the gautas

King Olaf helped the Norwegian King Vikar of the kingdom of Agder in his war against King Fridthjóf of Telemark, defeating him and forcing Telemark to cede to Víkar in exchange for his life and freedom.
