Nicholas III. Eppenreither was abbot of the monastery Waldsassen from 1417 to 1433.
Nicholas III. Eppenreither was Abbot of the monastery Waldsassen at the time of the Hussite wars. He was in regular contact with the Eger Council to discuss the Hussite's plans and mutual assistance in the event of a threat. However, the Hussites did not attack the monastery at this time, but in the course of a feud by Knight Hynko / Hynek Kruschina of Schwanberg and his followers. In 1430, Hynko looted the monastery by taking inventory and livestock. The surrounding localities were burnt down. During this time, the Council of Elbogen complained about the knight, who evidently exploited the lawlessness in the confusion of the civil war. Historians like the Prague Bishop Karel Kašpar wrongly ordered Hynko Kruschina of Schwanberg to belong to the Hussites, whom the plundering of a monastery as a forestry would have been plausible. Only in 1433 under Abbot John VI. Wendel came to a greater plunder under the Hussite leader Jakoubek of Vřesovice, whereby persons evidently did not damage.
