ground-nesting birds
Soil of Redthroat (Turdus iliacus) with young birds and egg.
In the ornithology, bird breeds are designated as breeders of birds, who place their nests on the ground. The nests of many soil breeding species are usually placed very hidden. The eggs often have a camouflage coloring.
Ground breeders do not represent a systematic unit (taxon), they are found in many bird taxa which are not related to one another in a systematic manner. These include numerous chickens, many Limikolen, among the singing birds the larks and among the birds of prey the Weihen. Edit source text Standard data (conceptual definition): GND: 4254660-6 (AKS)
