Las Dehesas de Cercedilla is a recreational area located in the municipality of Cercedilla, Madrid. It is immersed in one of the most important forest masses of the Community of Madrid (Spain) where there are many species, especially large wild pine forests.
In the recreation area is the Roman road of Fuenfría, one of its tourist attractions. This road climbs the whole side of the mountain on the south face (face of the Community of Madrid) and down to San Ildefonso on the north face (Castilla y León). It is very used for hiking, and runs for several kilometers with steep slopes, until reaching the port of La Fuenfría, from which it begins to descend. Another road with history that leaves the Dehesas is the Republic Road, a forest track built in the 1930s that stands out for its viewpoints.
This recreational area is very used by many people in Cercedilla and the area, but also take advantage of many days of recreation in Madrid because it is a beautiful place. It also has a Roman bridge before reaching the causeway. Las Dehesas has natural pools and a venture adventure park, the EcoParque. As for fauna has several species of which include the roe deer, the squirrel, and numerous birds.
In this recreational area there are many permanent streams that come from the highest peaks of the Sierra de Guadarrama. In summer, the flow of these currents is diminished because of the little precipitations.

To reach the recreational area you have to take the road that leads to the port of Fuenfría (1796 meters above sea level) and turn off before arriving at the Hospital de La Fuenfría. The recreational area is located in the lower area of the Fuenfría valley. In the summers of 1998 and 1999 high places of the Roman road suffered the attack to the pines of a caterpillar, plague that is repeated also in the summer of 2006.
