Josefsbergseilbahn
Self-propelled cabin of the Josefsberg cable car in Lagundo (South Tyrol). Single drive by engine above.
The Josefsberg cable car was built in 1979 by the company Hans Trojer in Forst / Lagundo near Merano. It led to the Josefsberg. The Josefsberg cableway, which replaced a chair lift, was one of the few self-propelled passenger cable cars in the world. The engine was powered by an air-cooled VW combustion engine located above the cab. The drive concept was patented. A single passenger could use the train alone.
The train was private, not public. It was dismantled in the late 1990s. Today the concrete structure of the valley station is still visible, although somewhat overgrown. Weblinks Edit sourcetext
