Timm visited the Gymnasium Osdorf, where he was active in the school orchestra and the big band.

He became known as singer and guitarist of the group Norbert and the cowards. After his repeated resignation and final dissolution, he performed as a solo singer-songwriter. Timm calls Götz Widmann and his project joint venture as his role models.
