Grave of Christian Gaab at the Old Cemetery in Wiesbaden
Christian Gaab (born 26 October 1828, died 17 December 1901 in Wiesbaden) was a German carpenter
Gaab came to Wiesbaden as a journeyman. He settled down here permanently and made himself independent after his master's examination.
In addition to his professional activities, he committed himself to the community of the city. He belonged to the town council of Wiesbaden. At his instigation, the trade union was established, and the commercial school was founded shortly afterwards. In 1846 he was one of the founders of the Wiesbaden men's club and four years later the volunteer fire brigade.
In 1896, the city of Wiesbaden honored its merits with the award of honorary citizenship. After his death a street was named after him in the north-west of the city. In addition, a memorial plaque on the building of the former trade school reminds of its founder. Edit source source text Standard data (person): Wikipedia person search
