.30 Remington

The .30 Remington Cartridge was created in 1906 by the Remington Arms industry. This was Remington's solution to the popular .30-30 Winchester cartridges. The ammunition continued to be manufactured until the late 1980s, but is now a candidate for those who refill cartridges manually.

Winchester .30-30 information can be used as a secure for .30 Remington.

Although these cartridges have fallen into disuse among hunters, they remain as the original compound or matrix of Remington SPC 6.8 mm cartridges. Unlike the .30-30, the .30 Remington can use standard spitzer bullets instead of bullets with a round tip when used on a fixed internal charger (Remington Model 8) or tubular charger (Remington Model 14). This gives it a possible advantage over the .30-30 cartridge commonly used in rifles with standard tubular chargers (where the use of sharp spitzer bullets could cause detonation of the cartridges inside the magazine).

NOTE

Although .30 Remington cartridges are ballistically equivalent to the .30-30 Winchester, they are not the same cartridge, and therefore are not interchangeable. The size of the bushing differs between the two.
