Underground Great Wall
The so-called Underground Great Wall (Dixia changcheng 地下 长城), today the district of Yongqing (永清县), the district-free city of Langhe, Hebei Province, People's Republic of China, is one of the times of the Song Dynasty (960 to 1279), which was about 90 km long and stretched over an area of 1,600 square kilometers and was part of a military defense system against the Mongolian people of Kitan, later to become Liao Dynasty.
The tunnel system had been forgotten until 1948, when the water masses of a flood suddenly began to descend, because they flowed into the tunnel system. Since 2006 the "Underground Great Wall" has been named Bianguan didao yizhi (边关 地道 遗址 "site of the border tunnel") on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China (6-14) Weblinks Edit sourcetext Edit FootnotesQuote text
