Guru Angad Dev (Panjabi: ਗੁਰੂ ਅੰਗਦ ਦੇਵ, March 31, 1504 in Matae di Saran, March 28, 1552) was one of the ten founding gurus of Sikhism
Guru Angad Dev was born in Matae di Saran on March 31, 1504. At the age of 15 he married his wife Mata Khivi. During his marriage three children were born, two sons and one daughter. Before he surrendered to Sikhism, he was called Lehna. Lehna was very religious. He became a religious leader in his village, prayed and danced for the goddess Durga.
At the age of 28, he first met Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of the Sikhs. Full of enthusiasm for the new theses, he served him five years. Three months before Guru Nanak died, he appointed Lehna as the second Guru and gave him the name Angad Dev. Angad Dev took over and corrected the texts and praise texts written by Guru Nanak. These were written in Panjabi. Thus, a completely new language emerged, known as Gurmukhi (spoken from the Gurus mouth). After twelve years and nine months, Angad Dev Amar appointed the third Guru of the Sikhs.
