George Cherrie

In the course of his life, he took part in nearly forty expeditions in South and Central America, including the famous Roosevelt-Rondon expedition in the Amazon Basin.
His experiences immortalized Cherrie in his memoirs (Dark Trails: Adventures of a Naturalist, 1930). A sparrow bird, Cherries Tangar (Ramphocelus costaricensis) and an anteater (Myrmotherula cherriei) recall his name.
