Mista'aravim
Mista'aravim (Hebrew מסתערבים, literally: Arabic) is a name for covertly operating military and police special units in Israel. Mista'aravim-capable units are disguised as Arabs especially in counter-terrorism.
The earliest form of a Mista'aravim unit was the HaSchomer. This defense organization of the Jews in Palestine, which existed until 1920, had the role of the Bedouin fighters of the region as a model. The Shomrim also wore bedouin dresses and headgear, and spoke Arabic.
Today the Mista'aravim are highly specialized units whose actions are subject to secrecy. Specialist forces in Mista'aravim units are subject to intensive undercovertraining. Learning contents of the training units are not only disguise techniques but also intensive study of local Arabic culture, the Arabic language and also the Islamic religion and the Koran.
