Candidate (653) was a Visigothic ecclesiastic, bishop of Astorga between 646 and 653. His participation in the VII Council of Toledo celebrated the year 646, in which he was represented by a priest of name Pablo, and in the VIII of 653, to which he came personally. His signature also appears in a privilege that the kings Chindasvinto and Reciberga granted to Fructuoso of Braga approving the foundation of several monasteries in the Bierzo, although some authors doubt the authenticity of this document.
