Þuríður Backman (transcribed Thuridur Backman, born January 8, 1948 in Reykjavík) is an Icelandic politician (left-wing Green Movement).
From 1999 to 2013 she was a member of the Icelandic parliament Althing, first for the Eastern Electoral District, since 2003 for the Northeastern constituency. She was vice-chairman of the parliamentary club of the Left-Green Movement from 1999 to 2007, and since 2003 she has been the Parliament's spokeswoman. She was a member of the Committee on Budget and Vice-Chairman of the Committee on Health and Head of the Icelandic Delegation to the Interparliamentary Union. Weblinks Edit sourcetext
