Riitta Maria Uosukainen (* June 18, 1942 in Enso), born Vainikka, is a Finnish politician. It belongs to the collecting party (Kokoomus).
In 1969, Uosukainen completed her philology studies with a Master's degree. From 1969 to 1976 she worked as a Finnish teacher at the Gymnasium Imatrankoski. In the period from 1983 to 2003, she was a member of the Finnish parliament, from 1999 to 2003 she was President of the Parliament. In 1991, she was appointed Minister of Education in the government of Esko Aho and held this post until 1994. In the 2000 elections, Riitta Uosukainen ran for the office of state president. Their opponents were Esko Aho, Elisabeth Rehn and Tarja Halonen, who finally won the election. In 2004 she was awarded the highest Finnish honorary title valtioneuvos by the President Halonen.
