Rate of urbanization

The urbanization rate is a demographic index that expresses the percentage ratio between the urban population and the total population of a country. A high figure indicates a higher level of human development. Since the birth of the city, and in the different moments of human history that have been defined as an urban revolution, the rate of urbanization has undergone different ups and downs in different parts of the world, taking into account its different level of economic development and social, but since the Industrial Revolution there has been a steady growth. For the rural population of the world as a whole, the United Nations Population Fund (UFPA) estimated that in 08 a rural population and 0% urban population (30 each) were reached, and only thereafter part of the world's population lives in cities.
