Captain Don Marcos Alonso de la Garza and the Bunker was a military and landowner prominent in the colonization and population of the New Kingdom of Leon.
Don Marcos was the son of Don Marcos Alonso and Doña Costanza de la Garza and Chestnut. It was born in Andalusia (Lepe), about 1551. By maternal line descended from the lineage of the Garza de Quiroga, coming from Vizcaya, possessors of the manor of Tor and the Tower of Castillón. He arrived in New Spain in service to the Crown of Spain as a soldier of that army. In 1585 he married Doña Juana de Treviño and Quintanilla, from one of the most illustrious families in New Spain.
In service, the Crown was sent to Zacatecas and Durango to supervise some of the largest silver and gold mines. In 1596, he traveled with his wife and six children to the New Kingdom of Leon to found, together with Don Diego de Montemayor, the city of Monterrey.
Don Marcos Alonso de la Garza and Chestnut and Doña Juana de Treviño and Quintanilla had six children, many of whom descended from New Spain.
