Water course

Lomnianka river, water course of the Czech Republic.

A watercourse is the generic term for the flowing water flowing through a fixed channel.

Every water course is fed by a watershed whose oatmeal waters. The torrents and streams form the tributaries of the main rivers that flow into the sea or into a lake. The regime of a watercourse depends essentially on the conditions of its food and the characteristics of its bed: width, layout, longitudinal and transverse profiles, etc. Moreover, the forms of the bed do not cease to change, since in some parts they suffer a more or less intense erosion, while in others they deposit alluviums that raise the bottom and regularize their profile. Even the largest waterfalls eventually disappear, as it goes back down decreases its height to the point of suppressing the unevenness.

Potamology studies numerous phenomena related to watercourses. Among these are those concerned with river dynamics and others constitute river hydrology proper.
