Śrī Gupta
Sri Gupta (240-280) was the initiating king of the Gupta Empire in northern India. An area north or center of Bengal might have been the home of the Gupta family at that time. however, there is no evidence available.
He was succeeded by King Ghatótkacha.
The first evidence of Sri Gupta comes from the writings of Yi Ching, circa 690 AD. C., who describes that the inscription of copper of Pune (India), of the princess Prabhavati Gupta (daughter of the king Chandra Gupta II) describes to a "Majarásh Sri-Gupta" like founder of the Gupta dynasty. Notes
