Louis Bailly was the son of painter Jean François Bailly. Louis married Sophie Poitier on August 14, 1813, and settled at No. 17, Rue Jean-de-l'Épine, in the 12th arrondissement of Paris. He learned the painting trade from his father. Edit LifeQualtext On May 26, 1826, Bailly bought the glass painting workshop of Louis Huin, who inherited it from his father Louis Huin (1756-1821), who died in 1821. The workshop was located at No. 18, Rue Sainte-Avoye, Paris (3rd arrondissement).
Between 1826 and 1832 Bailly received several orders in the church of St-Germain-l'Auxerrois, where he restored lead glass windows and carried out painting works. He received further commissions in other churches in Paris between 1828 and 1846 from the city of Paris, which since the French Revolution is the owner of most Parisian parish churches and has the obligation to entertain.
The glass painter Prosper Lafaye, who had a lot of assignments, worked with Bailly in 1845. The latest news is that in 1846, Louis Germain Bailly was commissioned to make the windows at the entrance of the church of St-Germain-des-Prés. Edit source text
