Jirka Dell'Oro-Friedl


Jirka Dell'Oro-Friedl (born January 1, 1965 in Mainz) is a German engineer and has been Professor of Gamedesign, Game Development, Interaction Design and Programming at the Faculty of Digital Media at Furtwangen University of Applied Sciences since 2010. Edit LifeQualtext

Dell'Oro-Friedl studied mechanical engineering at the Fachhochschule Wiesbaden from 1987 to 1991. For special achievements during his studies, he was awarded the Adam Opel Prize by the Society for the Advancement of Engineering Studies in Rüsselsheim. From 1992 to 1994, Dell'Oro-Friedl was employed at NSM Unterhaltungsgeräte AG in Bingen as a development engineer and designer for game software. After that, he spent a year in the USA, where he began his independent work in multimedia development. After his return to Germany, he worked for two years as a freelancer in the field of learning and game software development. In 1997 Dell'Oro-Friedl founded EnterTrain Software GmbH, where he is still a partner. In the year 2000, he began to work as a lecturer at the Fachhochschule Mainz in the Mediendesign program. From 2002, he continued to work as a guest lecturer. Since October 2010, Jirka Dell'Oro-Friedl has been a professor at the Faculty of Digital Media at Furtwangen University of Applied Sciences. As a Dean of Studies from 2012 to 2016, he was responsible for the bachelor's program in Media Informatics. As an Aikido teacher he conducts the Aiki Academy, a non-profit organization for conflict management, self-protection, civil courage and holistic fitness based on Aikido, with several locations in Germany. Jirka Dell'Oro-Friedl has been involved in the development of numerous game and learning software productions and has won several prizes, including the German Computer Game Prize, the Comenius Award and the Macromedia Award. His most famous titles include Spellforce, Opera Fatal, Techforce and ExperiMINTe. Dell'Oro-Friedl teaches at the Faculty of Digital Media at the University of Furtwangen in the areas of gamedesign, game development, interaction design and programming.
