Cañadas Program
The Cañadas Program was a counterinsurgency program against the EZLN that was carried out by the government of the state of Chiapas in Mexico in the late 1990s in the region of Las Cañadas in the Lacandon Jungle. Author of the program was Carlos Rojas and was implemented by SEDESOL State. The strategy was to discourage participation in the Zapatista movement for the services provided to the population in the Social Care Centers (CAS) that were located next to the facilities of the Mexican Army. The program was dismantled in 2000 by the government of Pablo Salazar Mendiguchía.
