Barnumbir

Barnumbir or Barnumbirres a goddess in Australian Aboriginal mythology of yolngu culture in the Land of Arnhem, which represents the planet Venus; which proclaims the light of the new day, and is likewise regarded as the prelude to misfortune.

According to the Yolngu, Barnumbir is the star of the morning because of being afraid of drowning in the Milky Way river; I would have asked for help from two old ladies. These old ladies to be able to help her tied her with a long rope of light in a tree on the island of Baralku; place from which she is in charge of guiding the souls to the Paradise. It is also said that to take care of her, during the day one of the old women would keep it in a basket. Rituals

The yolngu gather after sunset waiting for the planet to leave. As they approach, in the first hours before dawn, the yolngu say that it carries behind it a rope of light tied to the island of Baralku on earth, and that along this rope, and with the help of a ceremonial staff, people can communicate with their deceased loved ones, showing them that they still love and remember them.
