Water chestnut cake
The water chestnut cake is a sweet Cantonese dim sum made of water chestnut in strips. During the yum cha the cake is usually cut into square pieces and fried before serving. It is soft, but maintains its shape after frying. Sometimes it is prepared with chestnut of water chopped inside each square piece, being visible the vegetable. One of its characteristic features is its translucent appearance.
It is one of the standard dishes present in the dim sum cuisine of Hong Kong, China, and is also found in Chinese restaurants in other continents.
