Theodotus of Byzantium
Theodotus of Byzantium (also Theodotus of Gerber) was a Christian author of the late 2nd century.
The doctrine of Theodotus states that Christ was indeed a particular man born under circumstances that were unnatural, but only man. Only at his baptism in Jordan was Christ adopted by God.
This doctrine, which was described as a dynamic monarchianism, was condemned by orthodoxy as heretical. Theodotus was therefore excommunicated by Pope Viktor I. Weblinks Edit sourcetext
