Terra Rubra

Mansion Terra Rubra

Terra Rubra is a historic home located near Keysville, Carroll County, Maryland, United States. It is the birthplace of writer-poet Francis Scott Key, author of the lyrics to the national anthem of the United States, "The Star-Spangled Banner." The current Federal style home was built in the 1850s because over time the original Key residence had deteriorated. It was rebuilt on the original house built in the 1770s by Francis Key for his son, John Ross Key, Francis Scott Key's father.

It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
