Rømer (Family)

Wappen der Rømer I Wappen der Rømer II.

The Norwegian aristocracy of Rømer is divided into two lines: Rømer I (older branch) and Rømer II (younger branch). It is descended from the family Reymar from Mecklenburg. Rømer I was supposed to have immigrated to Norway in the 14th century and became extinct before 1435.

The earliest members include Otte Rømer (around 1330 - 1411) and his son Svale Otteson Rømer (1363 - 1415). The patron in Bergen Henrikt Henningsson, mentioned in 1389, was the father of Archbishop Aslak Bolt.

Otte Rømers daughter was married to Jakob Fastulfsson. Their descendants are called the "Younger Rømer" (Rømer II). They themselves did not lead the sexes. Her son Mats Jakobsson († after 1455) was Sysselmann and Reichsrat. He had the children of Jacob, Otte, and Gertrude. Gertrud married the Swedish councilor Nils Jönsson Posse and became the mother-mother of the nobility sex Posse. Otte Matsson († around 1510) was a member of the Norwegian Reich Council and at the end of the 15th century commander of the fortress Bergenshus. His son Olav Ottesen († c. 1513) was the last male descendant of the sex. The daughter Ingerd Ottesdotter married Nils Henriksson, called Gyldenlöve. Edit source text Single-level Edit source text
