Civil Police of Brazil

The Civil Police are historical institutions, typically Brazilian, that exercise judicial functions of the police, the federal units of Brazil, whose function is, in accordance with article 144 of the Federal Constitution of 1988, the exercise of public safety .1 The civil police are subordinate to the Governors of the States or the Federal District and Territories and are headed by the chiefs of career police.
Also according to article 144, § 4 of the Federal Constitution, which specifies the role of the Civil Police, are institutional functions of these, with the exception of the competence of the Union:
