The satrapy of Babylon was an administrative division of the Aqueménida Empire. History

It was created under the name of Babairu in the time of Darius I, under whose government the division in "countries", modernly called satrapias; in this organization Babairu was the 3rd.However, the name of Babylon appears soon after linked to that of Syria as the ninth satrapy, and his satrap exercised the same dignity in the satrapy Abar-Nahara (the fifth), whose sum it represented most of the territory that had occupied the conquered Neo-Babylonian empire.
