Alfonso Broqua
Alfonso Broqua (born September 11, 1876 in Montevideo, France, 24 November 1946 in Paris) was a Uruguayan composer.
Broqua was a student of Vincent d'Indy at the Schola Cantorum in Paris and César Franck of Brussels. He worked as a music teacher in Montevideo and later lived as a freelance composer in Paris. In addition to two operas and a cantata, he mainly composed songs and piano pieces that are stylistically influenced by d'Indy. Broqua is the founder of the independent music development of Uruguay.
