A podracer consists essentially of a cabin, from where the pilot controls the controls, coupled to two antigravity propulsion engines by control cables manufactured exclusively by Steelton. Between each engine was generated a ray of energy that could paralyze someone if it received a discharge. A podracer can reach speeds above 800 km / h, so it is necessary that the pilots have very good reflexes and for this reason, most of the pilots are of alien species that have more limbs, more resistant bodies or other advantages of which the human race lacks. Anakin Skywalker is the only known human podracer pilot. He built his podracer, when he was only a child under ten years old, from pieces found abandoned in the city of Mos Espa (Tatooine) and some others he stole in the junkyard of his owner, the Toydar Watto.
The cabin from which Skywalker was driving was a little over ten feet long and was not covered, with only a small windshield. It was silver in color, but the astromech droid R2-D2 added, at the request of the robot C-3PO, some blue vertical lines in the back and a kind of X, also blue, in the front part. The two seven-meter Radon-Ulzer 620C propulsion engines had been modified by Skywalker and allowed to reach a speed of 947 km / h. Each engine had a rear cone that stabilized the thrust and three yellow air blades in the front that improved the maneuverability.
