Maximilian Hoferer (born 27 September 1852 in Eschlbach, Bockhorn, Germany, March 7, 1935 in Lohr am Main) was director of the humanistic Franz-Ludwig-von-Erthal-Gymnasium in Lohr am Main and author several Books on German Literature. Edit LifeQualtext

Hoferer was born as the son of Eschlbach teacher Franz Xaver Hoferer and his wife Anna Lex. His siblings also include the Royal Court Councilor and approving physician Franz Paul Hoferer. After attending the village school, he attended the Gymnasium in Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm, which he completed in 1872. From the winter semester of 1873, he studied philology and philosophy at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich until 1877 for eight semesters. As a high school teacher, he took a position in Aschaffenburg in 1883 and wrote his first literary treatises on the works of famous German poets and writers such as Goethe and Lessing. He published several works and writings, including translations from Homer and Plutarch, as well as Latin and Greek, over the time of his work in Aschaffenburg. After finding a position as a high school director in Munich, he finally worked as a director at the Humanistic Franz-Ludwig-von-Erthal-Gymnasium in Lohr am Main between 1907 and 1920. There he published further works, also after his retirement as director and the death of his wife in the year 1920. On 7 March 1935 he died in his last place of life Lohr am Main and was settled there.
