Energy informatics is a specialized area of computer science, which researches, develops and uses methods from computer science and related fields such as electrical engineering, cybernetics, automation and economics to solve complex energy systems. Such questions encompass the design, operation and optimization of distributed, heterogeneous and networked energy systems and aim at secure, reliable, sustainable and efficient energy supply in the smart grid.

The OFFIS Institute for Computer Science and others have been dealing with this topic for several years, for which several international conferences have already been organized.

The bachelor's program in energy informatics is offered by different universities. The regular study period is seven semesters including a practical exam and ends with an academic degree Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.). Edit source text Single-level Edit source text
