Senorina Merced Zamora
Senorina Merced Zamora (Colima, April 20, 1865 - April 21, 1922) was a Mexican painter.
Born as Maria de las Mercedes Zamora in Colima. She was disciple of the teacher Juana UrsĂșa titulating like preceptora of First Order before its 17 years in 1882. Soon it was teacher in the Mixed Normal School next to Santiago G. Barbosa, Jose Levy and Aniceto Castellanos. Her taste for painting motivated her to move to Mexico City, where she studied at the National Academy of San Carlos. She was awarded in Paris with a gold medal for her painting "Volcanes de Colima". Recognized as one of the best representatives of painting in Colima. He died of suppurative angiocolitis on April 21, 1922, one day after turning 57.
