Christian services

Christian services is an international volunteer program of the German Mennonites. It was established in 1986 by institutions such as the Peace Committee and the Mission Committee of the Mennonite Community Working Community. Internationally, it is also known as the Mennonite Voluntary Service (Mennonite Volunteer Service). The program is a member of the Community Action Service for Peace and the Evangelical Forum for Development Volunteer Service. It is recognized as a sending organization for the development policy project worldwide of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. The Mennonite Voluntary Service also has a recognition according to §14b civil service law, so that the volunteer program is also possible instead of the civilian service. The guiding principle of the volunteer program is to go and learn.

In 2009 about 80 volunteers were involved in 14 countries. They worked in children's, nursing or disabled facilities, disaster relief, fair trade and the boards. The projects therefore include both small initiatives by individual groups and church communities, as well as larger regional projects, which are also supported by other ecclesiastical organizations. The duration of a bet can vary between one and three years. The volunteers of Christian services are accompanied in the preparatory phase as well as in the service themselves and on the return of the pedagogical. The assignments are funded by donations from individuals, church communities, companies (social sponsoring) and partly through state grants. In order to finance the service itself, each volunteer will contribute € 150 per month to the volunteer fund through his / her home community or a support group. The remaining costs are covered by the volunteer program itself. Weblinks Edit sourcetext
