Rashid Maidin
Rashid Maidin (* 10. Oktober 1917 in Kampung Gunung Mesah, Perak; † 1. September 2006 in Sisakoin, Südthailand) war ein malaysischer kommunistischer Politiker.
In 1951, Rashid joined Parti Kebangsaan Melayu Malaya (PKMM) with other nationalists from the province of Perak. When he was later banned by the British occupation force, he joined the Communist Party of Malaya (CPM), and after the appointment of CPP secretary, Chin Peng, led the party organization in Pahang. In 1955, he became known to a broader public within the framework of the peace talks between Balmy and the later Prime Minister, Abdul Rahman. After the unsuccessful termination, he fled into the jungle at the border between Thailand and Malaysia.
Only in 1989 was a peace agreement concluded between the CPM guerrilla movement and the Malaysian government in the Thai town of Sisakoin (Narathiwat).
