Andreas Böer
Andreas Böer (* 25 January 1950 in Reichenbach / O.L.) is a German politician (CDU). He served as mayor in Reichenbach / O.L from 1991 to 2015. From 2006 to 2015 he was also the chairman of the Synod of the Evangelical Church of Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Oberlausitz.
Böer was born as the son of a priest and trained as a technician. In the final phase of the GDR, he became a member of the New Forum and was involved in different groups of citizens. In 1991 he became mayor of his hometown, and since 2008 he has been a member of the CDU parliamentary group in the Kreiskreis Görlitz (formerly in the Niederschlesischen Oberlausitzkreis) since 1999.
As the president of the Synod, he held the highest lay office of the Landeskirche, which he also held from 1990 to 2003 in his predecessor church, the Evangelical Church of the Silesian Oberlausitz. After the new constitution of the Synod in 2015 he was defeated by the new candidate of the counter-candidate Sigrun Neuwerth.
