POTS stands for Plain Old Telephone Service, also known as "traditional telephone service" or "basic telephony," refers to the way in which analogue (or conventional) telephone service is offered, by means of copper wiring.

It is called the Switched Telephone Network (RTC) or Basic Telephone Network (RTB).
